Stacking The Shelves (31)

Y’all, what a week it has been for me. I’ve been whipping though my Netgalley books, which is awesome. You know how there’s that READING shelf on Netgalley where all the books you need to write reviews go to? Well, I am at 42 books on there – with 2 books that I’ve finished and need to review, and 3 that I am currently reading. My goal is to get that number down to 30 by BEA. ALSO! I had a pretty big important life event this week, but in order to not jinx myself, I won’t tell you what the event was. OH and I attended my first roller derby. So, that’s what’s been happening with me. What about you? No vlog because I have this weird thing going on with my nose and am kind of broken out and don’t want to put make up on.

Stacking The Shelves Haul 31

For Review:

Big Sky Summer by Linda Lael Miller (Unsolicited)
Tumble & Fall by Alexandra Coutts (Requested Review Copy)
Awaken by Meg Cabot (Unsolicited)
Parallel by Lauren Miller (Unsolicited)

From Edelweiss and Netgalley:

Across A Star-Swept Sea by Diana Peterfreund – You guys I have been checking Edelweiss every single day for at least 4 weeks hoping this book would show up on there, so you can imagine my delight when I checked it at 8 a.m. a few days ago and it was up. I am beyond excited for this one!
Dance Of The Red Death by Bethany Griffin – Oh my goodness, I can’t wait to read more about the plague and world of masks and the love triangle. I KNOW.
How To Love by Katie Cotungo – YES! Contemporary! I can’t wait to read this. 🙂
Rock And A Hard Place by Angie Stanton – Another cute contemporary YA romance, also I really liked Snowed Over by Stanton, so I am looking forward to this.
The Summer I Became A Nerd by Leah Rae Miller – DUDE YES I am always down to read about girls who embrace their nerdy side.
Gated by Amy Christine Parker – CULT. The end.

Won In A Contest:

The Golem And The Jinni  by Helene Wecker from Devourer of Books, and yes I am currently reading this one.

Purchased:

Remembrance by Michelle Maddow – this was FREE for Kindle, so being curious, I “bought” it.
Abarat by Clive Barker – This book was a Kindle daily deal and um, I actually got one of the sequels a few years ago in the mail, so I figure I might as well eventually read it.

  1. I’m curious about the Jinni books because well, lots of reasons. I’m looking forward to your review.

  2. Nice haul. I’m trying not to get too much from Edelweiss/NG as I’ve fallen behind. Great haul of books. I know the Diana Peterfund book is going to be at BEA, so not going to EW to get the book. Come check out my stack this week.

  3. I loved Remembrance! All three books are really cute, actually. 🙂

  4. Okay, I am bummed there is no vlog, BUT I completely understand. I never want to film them because I don’t want to do my hair and put on makeup. LOL. I hope whatever your life event is, it happens! I THINK I know what it is, and if I’m right, yay for you!

Can’t wait you hear your thoughts on The Golem and the Jimmi because that book is so pretty and I want it. I also got Tumble & Fall this week and I can’t wait to read it.

    BEA this month! Weeeeeeee!

  5. I cannot decide if I want to read Across a Star-Swept Sea. I mean, it’s based on The Scarlet Pimpernel, which is one of my favorite stories ever. Well, I don’t love the book, but I love the character, and the whole idea of pretending to be an idiot so no one knows that you’re a hero.

But I hate futuristic/dystopian novels soooooo much. So I am am torn. I want to support anything Scarlet Pimpernel (hey, have you seen the Anthony Andrews movie of The Scarlet, Pimpernel? Because you really should watch it if you haven’t) but dystopian stuff freaks me out like crazy.

Good luck on your Netgalley goal. I’ve been trying to focus on them a bit more, too, lately.

  6. Fantastic books! I am excited for Across the Star Swept Sea as well. I really enjoyed For Darkness Shows the Stars. I also can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The Summer I Became a Nerd–definitely interested in that one. I hope it’s a fun summer read. Enjoy your books!

  7. Do you put all the books that arrive for review on that list or just the ones you actually want to read? Just curious! I could swear you have more than that as a whole, but I might be crazy, and it really doesn’t matter, but I do love knowing things. Haha.

Oh lord the Abandon trilogy. Good luck with that, buddy. If you do read it, I anticipate a ranty review excitedly. Or maybe it got better, which would be good too, I guess.

Oh, also, I will be reading Parallel soon and hope to love it!

AND if Tumble & Fall is not as pretty on the inside, I shall weep tears all over my keyboard.
