Stacking The Shelves (27)

Huzzah, another vlog! This one is a TINY bit longer because I talk about Julep. A few things about this week: I decided to start eating clean and have downloaded a meal plan from Blogilates. We had a bit of trouble earlier this week with the snow storm, but I won’t go into detail on that, you can just scroll my twitter. I also got to help out last minute with Bloggiesta!

For Review:

Immortal Trust by Claire Ashgrove (Unsolicited)
The Apprentices by Maile Meloy (Unsolicited)
The Wells Bequest by Polly Schulman (Unsolicited)
A Corner Of White by Jaclyn Moriarty (Unsolicited)

From Edelweiss and Netgalley:
The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson – OH MY GODDDDD. Okay, so I should immediately start this, but I’m kind of holding off for the physical copy because I am quoted in the physical ARC. But who knows how long I can hold out.
The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas – Hello, historical fiction with supernatural elements? That’s totally up my alley.
The Real Boy by Anne Ursu – I had to have this after being totally in love with Breadcrumbs.
The Chaos Of Stars by Kiersten White – Two words: Egyptian Gods!
VIII by HM Castor – Yo, it’s all about how King Henry the 8th turns into a douche. CANT WAIT!
Maid Of Secrets by Jennifer McGowan – Orphans and a secret society of women who protect the queen, of freakin course I requested this one.

Purchased:

Joined the Julep Maven program, yay nail polish every month! Colors include – Eloise, Hoch, Claudette and Helen.

For Kindle:
The Edge Of Never by J.A Redmerski – This was 99 cents and I am totally in the market to try more New Adult books, plus a few people I like LOVED this book.
Lady Maggie’s Secret Scandal by Grace Burrows – This one was a freebie so of course I snatched it up. It’s a historical romance published by Sourcebooks.
Wait For You by J. Lynn – Another new adult, this was 99 cents yesterday so I snatched it up. It’s only $2.99, might be worth it.

In case you skipped it or missed it, here’s a recap of what we’ve posted here last week:

  1. Oh, I’ll definitely be stalking your updates for The Chaos of Stars. I’m not sure if I want to request that one–I was not a fan of White’s Mind Games at all, but if I see that a lot of trusted reviewers enjoy it I’ll request it. The same goes for The Burning Sky. And regarding The Bitter Kingdom–I really need to get around to starting this trilogy.

  2. I am LOVING your vlogs. Anyway, I sort of want to join Julep just because the love the shape of the nail polish bottles. Which is really is a silly reason, but they are just so cute. I’m trying to restrain myself though, because I have so much nail polish, and I don’t use them nearly enough.

Anyway, I love that you love middle grade books. Some of my favorite books are middle grade, and last year I didn’t read nearly enough of them. I’m doing better this year though. I need to read some new releases, though, so I can booktalk them for the summer reading program.

  3. So many good books. Not enough time sometimes to read everything we want. Great haul. Come visit me as well.

    Grace

  4. I have to say that I’ve tried a ton of topcoats and Julep’s is the best I’ve found so far. I swear, my manicures last at least 10 days to 2 weeks with it. Hope you enjoy it!

I looked up The Wells Bequest because I have a ton of fantasy fans in my 6th grade this year and it sounds like something they’ll love. I’m bummed that it doesn’t come out until June but maybe I’ll suggest it for their summer reading.

  5. I haven’t heard of any of the books you got this week but they look interesting so I hope you enjoy them!

    My IMM

  6. Making a vlog is less of a process if you do it my way, because I have no freaking clue how to edit one…Yeah. I just embrace the awkward and tell myself it’s more entertaining that way. Oh well.

Also, we’re sort of haul twins, at least with physical copies. I got that same one from Penguin, with those two MG sequels, and I enjoyed both of the first books, so I am super excited about those. Plus, I got A Corner of White from YABC, so woooo. I hope they’re great, since we both have to read them. Haha!

  7. Love your Vlogs….I am definitely interested in your opinion of The Chaos of Stars and Corner of White. I’ll keep my eye out for your reviews. Julep Maven seems pretty cool–love the color you are wearing! Enjoy all of your books!

  8. So many great books on Edelweiss! I snagged Chaos of Stars and a couple others. Also, we’re Julep twins! I’m classic with a twist too 🙂

  9. Yay, I’m glad you’re getting into doing vlogs more because I love yours! Your banter with your bf is hilarious!

I am also pretty crazy about Maile Meloy’s covers! They’re gorgeous! And congrats on getting quoted in The Bitter Kingdoms!! I hope you enjoy all your books this week, April!

  10. Ahhhh, awesome haul woman. I’m vacillating between envy and glee. I hope you enjoy them all.

  11. I still haven’t read Breadcrumbs, but it looks awesome! I have a copy and have it on my reading list in a few month’s time. And I bought The Edge of Never today! It looks great!

Yay for the Bitter Kingdom! I looooooved The Girl of Fire and Thorns … I can’t wait to read this one! That’s awesome that you’re quoted in it!

  12. You got a lot of great books. I am curious about Chaos of Stars but Mind Games wasn’t such a great one for me. I did like her Paranormalcy series though so I might try it! The Burning Sky sounds awesome! I have that one too! I loved The Edge of Never and Wait for You. I hope you enjoy them too!! Great haul! Thanks for stopping by my StS post. 🙂

  13. The Wells Bequest and The Apprentice look pretty awesome. I’m going to be looking forward to seeing what you think of each of these series after you read them!

Also, it’s awesome that you got a copy of A Corner of White. I just read it, and ended up liking it a lot. The beginning was hard to get through, but it’s worth it.

Yay for Julep! I too am classic with a twist, and Claudette is an awesome color. I have to try the other one soon!

  14. I was so excited to see The Bitter Kingdom on Edelweiss. I am going to wait till closer to the release date (or at least I’m going to try to!)

I am thinking of requesting The Chaos of Stars too. I loved learning about Egyptian mythology from the Rick Riordan books and this story sounds like maybe it will be funny-similar to Tera Lynn Childs Oh. My. Gods series…

  15. Ahahaha, I love your Star Wars StS intro. You are in for SUCH a treat with A Corner of White. I just read Enthusiasm by Polly Shulman and I ended up liking it a lot more than I expected. I’ll have to check out that other series. Nice nails, April! 🙂
