Stacking The Shelves (26)

Arclight by Josin Mcquein (Unsolicited; second copy)

Icons by Margaret Stohl (Netgalley)
Truth Or Dare by Jacqueline Green (Netgalley)

Somebody Up There Hates You by Hollis Seamon (Netgalley)
If You Could Be Mine by Sara Farizan (Netgalley)
The Rose Throne by Mettie Ivie Harrison (Netgalley)

Purchased:

The Beginning Of After by Jennifer Castle (Kindle) – I already had an old ARC copy taking up space and this was only $1.99, so why not.
Crazy Dangerous by Andrew Klavan (Audible) – Nick Podehl narrates this and Audible was having a storewide % off sale, AND this was way cheaper to buy straight out than spend a credit.
Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick (Audible) – This is narrated by Ray Porter and also on sale. I’m curious about it because the movie looks good.

  1. Nice green top!

I still have not read Born Wicked despite having had a copy for over a year, oops!

Yay for Finnikin, I hope you continue to enjoy it!!

  2. I am always a little envious of bloggers that can keep their shit together and review regularly, you being one of them. (don’t worry, I’m not *actually* jealous, I DO remember your prior posts about doing whatever we want:)) But I haven’t been reviewing anything so when I see lovely people like you with long lists of Netgalley picks, I have, like, vicarious anxiety for them lol. I hope you find something amazing in this week’s haul. (well, besides Finnikin since I think you know that is really good already:))

    • Hahahaha me keep my shit together? Yeah right. I always feel like I am the worst at reviewing especially because these past few weeks I have not had a review up every day.

You know, I actually do way better with Netgalley books than physical -probably because I can read an ebook anywhere whereas with a physical book I hardly ever read them outside the house.

Dude cannot wait to dive fully into Finnikin!

  3. I actually don’t get many books in the mail, but this week, I picked up Sever and The Madman’s Daughter from the library and I bought Mila 2.0: Origins: The Fire because it was free.

    • Ohhh! I need to read Sever still. I hope that one is good!

ALSO! I loved The Madman’s Daughter it’s very well written.

OOOOO Mila 2.0 has additional free bonus content? Awesome!

  4. I’m reading The Rose Throne right now and it’s really good! I’m quite in love with the cover for it. I look forward to seeing what you think of the Silver Linings Playbook … I’ll admit that the book never really piqued my interest, but I did plan on seeing the movie someday.

    Enjoy your reads! 🙂

    • I’m psyched to hear you like The Rose Throne — I know her last one Tris And Izzie got universally bad reviews so I kind of have skipped it.

See, I have to read the book before I see the movie, but I’ve heard the book is really good.

      Thank you 🙂

  5. I am interested to hear what you think of Tarnish, Belladonna, and Star Cursed because all three are sequels to books I had really mixed feelings about.

    • Ahhh, see I liked all three of the first in a series books so I am hoping I like them! I promise I will be honest in the reviews as always. 🙂

      • Yeah, I liked the stories, but each series had a character that made me rage, so, we will see! I definitely plan to read them still because I love Tudor stuff for the first one, and want to know what happens next, for the other two.

  6. You look cute, way to be dressed nice!

I bet you’ll like Silver Linings Playbook – I hope the book is as good as the movie, anyway. That movie was really good.

Oh Tor, why do you keep doing this to us? I got a (different) random second in a series from them this week as well.

    • Thanks! I had just went to a Christening when I filmed this and hadn’t yet changed.

Oh snap, I hope the book is as good as the film. I’m staying optimistic.

LOL, I think it’s funny all those random books for series I’ve never heard of.

  7. I like your vlogs, April. I don’t mind the new covers for Born Wicked, but I preferred the original one. It was just so pretty. I haven’t read the book, yet though. Maybe the new covers work better with the story.

I just checked out Somebody Up There Hates You because the title is awesome and made me chuckle. I don’t think the book is something I could handle though.

    Anyway, happy reading!!

    • Thank you! I agree that the original covers are pretty, but I don’t hate the redesign.

Yeahhh, the title is funny but the topic just seems sad but who knows, maybe the author will make it not sad — if that makes sense.

  8. I’m listening to The Silver Linings Playbook right now and it is really good! I’m enjoying it. I wanted to read the book before I watched the movie…..

Dying to get my hands on Star Cursed and The Lucy Variations – great haul!

    • I’m glad to hear that vote of confidence for the audiobook! I’m looking forward to it even more now.

Thanks — I can’t wait to get to Star Cursed and The Lucy Variations — looks like they should be good in different ways.

  9. I find it amazing at how fast you read and review books. Hope you enjoy reading the ones that you got this week.

I watched Silver Linings Playbook when I saw that it was available on the recent flight that I was in. I was curious about it because of Jennifer Lawrence. I enjoyed watching it! I hope the book is good too.

    • Awww, it’s not a talent, it’s just that I don’t have a life outside of this hahahaha, well this and my job.

I am glad that the movie was good, I think that bodes well for the book.

  10. Amazing haul! Enjoy, you’re so cute on camera!!

  11. I read Crazy Dangerous for a blog tour last year and it was pretty interesting! I hope you enjoy everything you got this week 🙂

    My IMM

  12. I’ll echo everyone else and say Finnikin of the Rock is really good, I mean the audio is amazing, but I think you’ll like reading it too ! I wonder if these series is more popular in Australia than in America ?

I didn’t get much this week, but I did get Poison Eaters by Holly Black from the library to prepare for Coldest Girl in Coldtown coming out.

    • I think that the series is really popular with American Melina Marchetta fans, but it’s not quite on the level of the Graceling books. Either way, I am looking forward to it.

OOO! I like Holly Black, I’ll definitely have to check Poison Eaters out.

  13. Oh, you got so many amazing books! I can’t wait to read your review on the Lucy Variations 🙂
I hope you like Finnikin of the Rock! I’m about to start Quintanna 😀

  14. Wow, lots of great books. I loved Born Wicked, and can’t wait to get Star Cursed. The Rose Thorn sounds really good to me too. 🙂

  15. Oh man, I hate getting unsolicited books I super didn’t want. Good luck with the second Innocents book, which I’m sure you’re moving to the top of your pile.

    *makes grabby hands at Tarnish*

You got so many things from the NetGalley. Oh wait, I heard about that LB autodownload newsletter thingy. Huh. Anyway, hope you enjoy all the things (except the Innocents…lol).

    • Hahahaha, I think I will be giving the Innocents away, like yeah it’s short but I’d rather spend that time reading a book I know I will love or at least one I am optimistic about.

TARNISH, ahhhh. I was so excited for that.

Pretty much Netgalley is my kryptonite.

  16. Tarnish sounds awesome! I have yet to read Gilt, but I do love any books that focus on historical figures (in a way) and these two both sound like fresh takes on history.

Also, I have not yet read Venom, even though there’s an ARC somewhere in my piles. I’m glad that you liked it though, and I hope that I end up liking it too.

I enjoyed Finnikin of the Rock, and I hope you do too. I will say this though – I’m reading Froi of the Exiles and I love it even more.

(P.S. Your comment about “building castles with them” made me laugh!)

  17. I love all the books I get from NetGalley, I just wish I could get onto Little Brown’s newsletter because most of those titles you got this week are from LB and I really want a couple of them. Ha! I wish I knew how the bloggers that got on there got on there! So yay for Icons and Loki’s Wolves and The Lucy Variations because they all look awesome.

And errr, I am going to try to read Finnikin and Venom soon. Yeah right. LOL.
