Stacking The Shelves (20)

Man, I am so glad that last week is over. There was lots of stress involved and like barely any reading time. PLUS I was all ugh, I need to start working out again to look good. However, it’s February now and I don’t know about you all but I kind of feel like each month is a new slate of possibility, and so I’m excited to accomplish things in February. And of course, this week was full of surprises as most of the mail that came was through USPS and not UPS, thus no My Choice Alerts.

Stacking The Shelves 2/2/13

For Review:

The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson (Netgalley) – I really liked Johnson’s short story in Unicorns Vs. Zombies so I was SUPER excited to get approval for The Summer Prince. The setting sounds excellent.

Dr. Bird’s Advice For Sad Poets by Evan Roskos (Vine) – Walt Whitman and a bird on the cover, enough said.

Night School by CJ Daugherty (Unsolicited) -A world of mysteries, secrets and danger? Sign me up.

Wild Awake by Hilary T. Smith (Unsolicited) – Jen is reading this and has tweeted good things, so I am looking forward to it.

September Girls by Bennett Madison  (Unsolicited) – DAT COVER. YES.

The Dark Shore by Kevin Emerson (Unsolicited) – I didn’t love The Lost Code, so we’ll see with this one. It’s not my number one priority.

Transparent by Natalie Whipple (Unsolicited) – The back cover mentions Stephanie Perkins and Richelle Mead, thus has my attention forever.

Zits Chillax by Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman (Unsolicited) – On first glance, I was like this looks stupid, based on cover and title, THEN I flipped through it. OHMYGOD there are pictures! So, now I am excited about this book.

Maya’s Notebook by Isabel Allende (Accepted Review Copy) – I love Isabel Allende’s work, so when a review request was sent to me for this crossover book, I immediately said yes. I will probably start this soon and read it slowly because it’s very long.

Parallel by Lauren Miller (Unsolicited) – I love the concept of this book – of parallel lives.

If I Should Die by Amy Plum (Unsolicited) – I didn’t exactly love book one, but I thought it was okay. I never got around to book 2 but I have it here somewhere. We’ll see about this. Did you guys read book 2? Is it worth continuing?

Goddess by Josephine Angelini (Unsolicited) – I really need to read the Starcrossed series, but sigh the books are so big.

Towering by Alex Flinn (Unsolicited) – I should probably read more of Flinn’s retellings because I actually really like her writing style. This one is a retelling of Rapunzel.

The End Games by T. Michael Martin (Unsolicited) – AHHHHHH. This is my most anticipated debut of 2013. I already started the first 5 pages because I could not resist and it’s so good so far AND Tony is going to read it after me. YAY.

Shadow On The Crown by Patricia Bracewell read by Katie Firth (Accepted Audiobook Review Copy) – Emma of Normandy and Aethelred, OH MY NERD HEART BEATING SUPER HARD. Cannot wait.

A Tangle Of Knots by Lisa Graff read by Katie Honaker (Accepted Audiobook Review Copy) – I started listening to this book today, and it has cool music and recipes, and is set in the Hudson Valley. YAY.

The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead read by Emily Shaffer (Accepted Audiobook Review Copy) – Look, I am going to be borrowing Jen’s ARC, but legit I couldn’t wait. COULD NOT WAIT and so when this was offered with a download now link in an email I was like hemming and hawing, then just clicked it because I NEED TO KNOW NOW.

The Genius Of Dogs by Brian Hare and Vanessa Woods read by Fred Sanders (Accepted Audiobook Review Copy) – Last one. I know I went a little nuts, but I love nonfiction and dogs and I loved BORN TO RUN, which is narrated by Fred Sanders, so I had to have this.

Purchased:

So Many Boys by Suzanne Young – I’m so ready to continue this series, and I saw this on Amazon for $4 and it was the last one so I was like, sure I will totally order that noise right this second.

The Girls Of Murder City by Douglas Perry narrated by Peter Berkrot (Audible) – Hannah reviewed this and I decided I really needed it but didn’t have time to physically read and thus, audiobook it is.

A Good Boy Is Hard To Find by Suzanne Young – This last book of the Naughty List series is self published, and so I automatically purchased it for my Kindle, it was only $2.99. So, I hope to read this one very soon.

Take A Chance On Me by Jill Mansel (Kindle) – This was on sale. And I liked the cover.

Not That Kind Of Girl by Siobhan Vivian (Kindle) – Had to buy it before the January sale ended. I loved The List and also needed this.

52 Reasons To Hate My Father by Jessica Brody (Kindle) – This is still on sale, and a few people recommended I get it on facebook.

Austenland by Shannon Hale (Kindle) – Another book that was under $2 and since it’s going to be a movie, I want to read it, ha.

Waking Up Married by Mira Lyn Kelly (Kindle) – This was free and it’s part of the Harlequin KISS line, so I’ll try it, I figure.

The Shoemaker’s Wife by Adriana Trigiani (Kindle) – I really liked her Valentine books and because this is on sale, I was all SURE WHY NOT.

If We Kiss by Rachel Vail (Kindle) – This has been on my wishlist forever, so when it came on sale, I automatically purchased.

The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simmons (Kindle) – This is $1.99 and it sounds really romantic and long and sweeping and I will read it when I need to be swept away.

Odd And The Frost Giants by Neil Gaiman (Kindle) – So, I bought this because I knew I needed it before it went off sale. Plus, I love Gaiman’s work.

And All The Stars by Andrea K. Host (Kindle) – This is on sale for $0.99 and so because all my friends liked it, I bought it. I am shallow like that.

In case you skipped it or missed it, here’s a recap of what we’ve posted here last week:

In which I admit to having a horoscope obsession and review The 13th Sign by Kristin O’Donnell Tubb.

A round up of Kindle deals for the last week of January. I’m not sure how many are still valid.

Ahhh, Wings Of The Wicked has all of the stakes.

Four ARCs up for grabs, soon to be more if I can just get 3,000 entries!

I got to pick Courtney Allison Moulton’s brain AND I’m giving away 2 hardcover sets of the Angelfire trilogy here.

Allison is waiting on Spellbinding by Maya Gould.

In which I am sad about Shadows In The Silence and the ending of the Angelfire trilogy.

This book is known to bring all of the emotions — a review of Boundless by Cynthia Hand.

Allison reviews Dante’s Girl and thinks it’s pretty okay.

That one time I was disappointed by Revolution 19.
