In My Mailbox (82) / Stacking The Shelves (3)

You know how I had a 3 day weekend last week like many other Americans? I totally get to repeat that experience this week thanks to an abundance of sick time (4 weeks unused, y’all), mental health day, here I come. Anyways, I have been easing up a bit on myself and my reviewing and am feeling a bit more refreshed, sometimes it helps to talk everything out. I took up a project of cataloguing my books inspired by Unbreaking The Shelves which sounds kind of boring but actually was kind of fun (and now daunting). Anyways, lucky me, only a small amount of books came in the mail for me this week!

In My Mailbox 82

For Review:

Justice At Cardwell Ranch by B.J. Daniels (Unsolicited) – I am not entirely sure what this is about except that it’s a sequel to a book called Crime Scene At Cardwell Ranch and there is eyecandy on the cover. Also it’s only 216 pages. I can handle that.OH OH and I just went browsing on Amazon and apparently, I have the first book on my kindle from when it was free. It’s like a September miracle, y’all.

Skinny by Donna Cooner (Unsolicited) – I am so thrilled to have gotten a finished copy of Skinny in the mail. It was one of the BEA books that was featured during a YA panel. Basically Ever, the main character, is 300 lbs, right, and there is this voice in her head called ‘Skinny’ who makes fun of her. So, Ever decides to get gastric bypass surgery. And that’s the pitch, but the paper inside it and the official summary are both much more in-depth and lol, a LOT better than how I make it sound.

The Angel by Tiffany Reisz (Unsolicited) – I guess this is the sequel to The Siren which I still have not read yet. BUT YOU GUYS there are so many books and so little time and I say that as the sort of person who actually does spend the majority of my waking hours when I am not at work engaged in reading. Either way, I will get to this someday, just not sure when.

Purchased:

Split by Swati Avasthi – When Keertana at Ivy Book Bindings reviewed Split I knew that I absolutely had to order it for myself and my office and with Domestic Violence Awareness Month coming up in October, I cannot think of a more perfect time to purchase Split and read it.

In case you skipped it or missed it, here’s a recap of what we’ve posted here last week:

Yesterday, I let you all know that there was a Melissa Marr  twitter chat on 9/8 (today) AND that there’s some great YA books on sale for Kindle.

Sometimes the pressure and the competition of book blogging gets to me. I let all of those feelings out and feel way better for it.

Allison reviewed Freaks Like Us by Susan Vaught and discusses the social stigma of mental illness and continues to be my favorite co-blogger.

I admitted to really enjoying Throne Of Glass by Sarah Maas despite the rocky start.

The coming of the fall season means a new seasonal TBR. Allison and I share our Top 10 Fall TBR Books.

This week’s Quoted And Noted is from Shadow And Bone, it’s totally swoonworthy, y’all.

Allison reviews Origin by Jessica Khoury and loves the jungle setting.

I get really excited over Drama by Raina Telgemeier and exclaim over the theater and the inclusion of GLBT people!

  8. That challenge sounds right up my alley! I just took a slew of books to the HS librarian, but i could be realistic about tracking what books I need to read and how many I can knock out before the end of the year. Smart thinking, internet and April!

  9. I’ve been wanting to read Skinny for awhile! I hope you enjoy everything =D

  16. Yay! I’m so glad you were able to get a copy of Split, April! 🙂 I really hope you enjoy it, so I’ll be stalking your blog (more than I usually do!) for your review of it! I love the cover you picked up of it a lot better than mine too, so it looks gorgeous! Enjoy all your amazing novels this week, dear, and thanks for linking back to my review! 😀 I’m so glad that it compelled you to pick up this book as it’s one of my favorites. I even spoke to Swati, the author, about it after reading it and read through some of her past interviews which she’s given on the subject, so I’d definitely recommend looking at her website and reading those interviews when you finish the book. They’re so illuminating and considering your occupation, I think you’ll really relate to and appreciate them. Happy Reading! 😀

  17. Oooh, I’ll look forward to your review of Split! I totes have a catalogue of the books I own. I recently did an inventory on it, and that shiz is time-consuming, but I love it anyway.
