Bout Of Books Progress Page!

Instead of innundating you all with a bajillion posts with progress and updates, I figure I will make ONE post and just update it for each day.

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

Bout Of Books Day One Progress:

Time read: I have no idea. A lot.

I finished The Lost Code by Kevin Emerson aka I read the 135 pages I had left. The verdict: Meh. Not my favorite. It had potential to be really awesome because Atlantis is the deal, but unfortunately there was no deep soul connection with the character. Plus, the pacing was not as fast as I would have liked.

Books Started:

A Clash Of Kings by George RR Martin – 30 pages read. I am so friggen excited to be back in Westeros and see what everyone is up to. ALSO. Stannis. He whines SO MUCH OMG.

Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff – 8 pages read. I started this literally 5 minutes before turning the lights out. No opinion yet.

Since You Left Me by Allen Zadoff - 52 pages read. Friends, I love this book. You all need to read Zadoff, he’s fantastic.

Books Listened To:

The True Confessions Of Charlotte Doyle by Avi narrated by Alexandra O’Karma – 35 minutes of listening. Ugh. Guys. The story is interesting, but the narrater sounds like an old lady and it just feels so inappropriate for a story about a 12 year oldish girl. Like what the what I want a youthful sounding voice not some prim and proper old.

Bout Of Books Day Two Progress:

Time Read: Yeah, I have no clue. A few hours?

I finished Since You Left Me by Allen Zadoff. I had originally intended to only read 25%, which would have gotten me to 45% of the book read, but I just could not stop reading, I was so absorbed and need to know what happens next and how things shake out. If you like contemporary and are looking for funny books with a lot of heart, I absolutely recommend reading Allen Zadoff. Total of pages read from Since You Left Me: 268

Books Continued:

A Clash Of Kings by George RR Martin - 40 pages read. Listen here, Arya continues to be the shit. Seriously, I love that kid. Tyrion totally gave Cersei a talking to and I wanted to give him a high five and also buy him a drink.

Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff – 10 pages read. Lol. My progress for this is pathetic, but I was totally distracted by the internet and looking up which Georgette Heyer book to read first. I love the imagery though.

Books Listened To:

The True Confessions Of Charlotte Doyle by Avi narrated by Alexandra O’Karma - 1 hour and 18 minutes listened. Some exciting things are happening, Charlotte makes a friend and gets pants and I cringe at the narration.

Bout Of Books Day Three Progress:

Alas, I did not finish any books on day 3, but I think I made decent progress on the books I am currently reading.

Books Continued:

A Clash Of Kings by George RR Martin - 36 pages read. Yay! I made my goal of reading 100 pages of this book for Bout Of Books. I’m like really proud. Anyways, at this point I’m just pumped about seeing my boo Jon Snow again. ILYYYYYYYY. But blah, the next POV chapter is Catelyn and she is the worst.

Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff – 91 pages read. Sigh, not over 100 pages, but on the other hand this isn’t really the tear through it kind of book and actually reads more like adult fantasy, minus sex. However, I am really digging it, especially since we FINALLY get to meet the thunder tiger and some kickass stuff happens. Needs more kissing though.

Books Listened To:

The True Confessions Of Charlotte Doyle by Avi narrated by Alexandra O’Karma - 1 hr and 34 minutes listened. Y’all, ROLE CHANGES and excitement.

  1. Wow, you read a lot during your first day of readathoning. It’s too bad that the narrator for Charlotte Doyle is not the right fit. The book is one of my childhood favorites. I can’t wait to read your reviews of the other books you started!

  2. I hate it when a narrator just doesn’t fit a book! It really kills a book for me.

You’re doing AWESOME! You’ve really started a few books — I hope you can finish them all. 🙂

    • I don’t see myself finishing A Clash Of Kings, which is fine, because my only goal was to read 100 pages which I already did. Plus, Stormdancer isn’t as fast as expected, but it’s cool because I’m actually making time to read it. 🙂

  3. That’s a lot of reading done! I can imagine an ‘old’ voice is a bit disturbing when telling a story of such a young girl.

  4. I am always intimidated when you participate in a read-a-thon! LOL!!! I

I do applaud you for continuing to listen despite crummy narration. I will usually stop and get it in paper form from the library if it’s bad.

    • Ha ha, don’t be intimidated. This is one readathon where I’m going to miss one whole day — Friday. However, I’m going to try to unofficially read a lot on Sunday to make up for it.

  5. I seem to always have that book where I’m constantly putting it down, making no progress … I do hear Stormdancer is good, though!

  6. I’m trying to balance reading with listening, too. I have 2 audios going and am hoping by the end of Bout of Books that I will have finished at least one and made decent progress in the other!

Hope you continue to get in a lot of reading!

    • Yeah, I drive a lot for work and always have a ton of housework, plus I am allowed to listen to audios at my desk so I tend to always balance an audiobook with a physical book or an e-book.

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  7. I hate shoddy narration! Seriously, it’s the worst. Way to go for sticking with it. I can’t wait to start the Game of Thrones series! I’m glad you continue to like it. 🙂

    • Ugh, for real. I like good narration where I feel the need to sit in my car a little longer to listen, but alas, that is NOT the case here.

YAY Game Of Thrones is SOOOO good, even though it’s super long.

  8. LOL. I’m SO into The Song of Fire and Ice series. I’m on book 5 and, unfortunately, Stannis doesn’t get any better! Have fun with this one though. I love Westeros and all it’s characters. My favorite storyline is Arya’s. 😀

  9. YEAH BOUT OF BOOKS.
Also, Hell to the Yes for being back in Westeros.

  10. Oh you’re reading Stormdancer i’m jealous 😀 ! I really can’t wait to buy a copy of this book !
    Good luck !
