In My Mailbox (74)

I like finding new apps to make memes that I participate in, like this one, In My Mailbox as hosted by The Story Siren, look even prettier! Thanks to the magic of twitter, I was pointed to a sweet app that makes collages from your instagram pictures. SO yay! Mailbox collage sequence!

In My Mailbox 74

Purchased:

Slammed by Colleen Hoover (Kindle) – Basically Ginger was tweeting about it,so I was like why the heck not.

Flat Out Love by Jessica Park (Kindle) – I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book. Plus nerdy male love interest, YES PLEASE.

Playing For Keeps by RL Mathewson (Kindle) – I saw this on some romance blog and they said it was really good and yo, this is only $0.99 and it sounds like a Jennifer Crusie book, so of course I bought it.

Inside Scientology by Janet Reitman narrated by Stephen Hoye (Audible) – Yo, so Audible was having a 3 for 2 credits sale on nonfiction and because I love nonfiction and have this new Scientology obsession, I absolutely had to get this book.

The Frontiersmen by Allen Eckert narrated by Kevin Foley (Audible) – I am forever and always a fan of history and I don’t really know a whole lot about the old west and the frontier, Medieval history has always been my thing, so I am looking forward to learning more.

Boardwalk Empire by Nelson Johnson narrated by Joe Mantegna (Audible) – Boom. True crime. Hook line and sinker, y’all. Plus I think this is a show on HBO?

Library:

It’s Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han – Basically I read The Summer I Turned Pretty last week and decided I just had to read the rest of the trilogy.

We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han

For Review:

The Formula For Murder by Carol McCleary (Unsolicited) – Well, I quite like the cover and the fact that it’s a mystery, however, it’s the third in a series I haven’t read yet, so realistically I am not sure when I will get to this book.

The Siren by Tiffany Reisz (Unsolicted) – Ooo finished copy this time around. I swear, I’ll read this one. It looks full of the smutty times, which I kind of like!

Don’t Turn Around by Michelle Gagnon (Unsolicited) – Second copy. Basically, this one has a letter saying do not read when you are waiting for the bus or whatever because you will miss your stop, which pretty much means there is excitement in store. I am down for this. I like excitement!

Between You And Me by Marisa Calin (Netgalley) – Yo, this book sounds amazing, it’s got a girl with a crush on her female teacher and a best friend who is referred to as ‘you’ but with no clear gender noted. Color me INTERESTED.

The Boy Recession by Flynn Meaney (Netgalley) – With that title, there’s no saying NO.

My Sister Lives On The Mantlepiece by Annabel Pitcher (Netgalley) – Okay, so the premise is that five years ago, Rose was killed in a terrorist explosion. Now the family is still dealing with grief and pieces, from Jamie who is 10 and barely remembers Rose, to a father trying to understand why, to Rose’s twin Jas who is trying to forge her own identity. This book sounded FANTASTIC.

  1. I like the collage– gotta love all the cool phone apps. Boardwalk Empire is an awesome TV show! I had no idea it was based on a book. I’ll have to check that out. Han’s Summer series is incredible- I love it! Enjoy all your books!

  2. I love the Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy. I just got the second book and I can’t wait to read it. I hope you enjoy everything you got this week. Here’s my IMM =)

  3. Okay so the last two, no the last one? SO FANTASTIC! It’s not even that I’m Muslim and therefore forever biased but the writing, the kid, the whole damned thing, it made me weep and then it made me aww. Definitely one of my favourite books of the year.

  4. I love the collage! You are so fancy pants.

  5. The Siren is amazeballs. Seriously.

  6. Ooh, I like the sound of the press release for Don’t Turn Around! And I kind of love all the self-pub you and Ginger are buying cause I need more New Adult (or whatever) in my life, so if you guys like it, I know it’s good!

  7. My iPhone is pretty much all photo apps. Photo apps, photo collage apps… I’m a little photo crazy with my phone, but Instagram is my number one obsession. I don’t even know where my real camera is. Ooops. Poor camera.

You know, I tried to read It’s Not Summer Without You a few years ago when I got it for review and I couldn’t finish it. I had a lot of crap going on that year so I think my mindset was off.. and then a friend sent me the first one – SIGNED! and I have had them both on my shelf forever and I am scared to try it because I didn’t think I’d like them. But Jenny Han was awesome in NYC and because of that I want to give them another shot. I’m just really nervous about it.

Er… the end. I’ll stop babbling now. Sorry. =P

  8. My Sister Lives On The Mantelpiece is so good! I cried like a baby at the end.

  9. I ADORED Flat Out love and Slammed. They were amazing reads and Slammed just made the NYT list

  10. I saw Between You and Me at NetGalley and was very intrigued … I might have to go back and request it! Meanwhile, the cover for Don’t Turn Around is awesome! I hope it’s as good as it says it is!

I won the Jenny Han books a while back … I should read them soon! They’re supposed to be awesome.

    Happy reading!

  11. Dude, I literally just finished re-reading the first Summer book. It was perfection.

And I also took that Scientology book out of the library this week! I saw that link Amy tweeted you to her article and I was like ZOMG SO FASCINATING.

    Happy reading!

  12. I’m glad you like the Summer Trilogy; they’re really good! I really want to read The Boy Recession! Great haul (and lots of wine!)

  13. I just downloaded a collage app this week lol. Great minds think alike. 😉

  14. This is a great app, the pictures look pretty. I hope you enjoy reading Flat-Out Love, that was one of my favorite contemps last year.

  15. I need to pick up Jenny Han’s books. I keep seeing these ones around and I’ve picked them before and put them down, which I regret doing, because I keep hearing how great they are. I can’t wait to read your reviews for them.

  16. Apps for the win! I have about a million and a half photography apps installed on my phone. I should figure out what I like and delete some of them…

but alas, we were talking books…

YAY for the summer series by Jenny Han. I love, love those books. I bought Slammed a few weeks ago and haven’t started it yet but am anxious to. Happy reading! 🙂

  17. I’d never read the synopsis before this, but Between You and Me sounds awesome. I can’t wait to read My Sister Lives on the Mantlepiece–I picked up a copy at ALA, but it sounds like I need to make sure I’m stocked up on kleenex before I sit down with it!

  18. Yes, Boardwalk Empire IS an HBO show! I’ve read good things (but not amazing things) about Don’t Turn Around. It does sound exciting, doesn’t it? Think your bookends are looking mighty fine all stocked up!

  19. The summer trilogy is just so sweet. I hope you enjoy the other two!

  20. I can’t even tell you how excited I am that you are reading the Summer books. I’m DYING over here because I think they’re so emo-fabulous. And I’ve been meaning to pick up Flat Out Love and Slammed. I’m totally digging this New Adult stuff, especially after I read Easy, which was amazing.
But OMG I am so tempted to buy Inside Scientology! That is some cray business, and I’m totally intrigued by all of it. Curse my lack of Audible credits! I can’t wait to see what you think of it.

  21. Very nice haul! I have both Slammed and Flat Out Love and I’ve heard good things about them and I’m glad you’re reading the Summer series – enjoy the rest of it!

  22. It’s not summer without the Summer series! 😀

Boardwalk Empire is a fabulous show on HBO. My bf and I heart it! I’ve heard The Boy Recession is hilarious. You must let me know how it is!

  23. So I am really intrigued by your Inside Scientology audiobook, especially with all of this recent TomKat drama. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on that one! (and all of the rest of course)

  24. Is that White Zin? Obv I’m really focused on books at the moment.

  25. What awesome books! I’m especially excited for you about the Summer series; I’m planning on completing my collection this week!
