Rescue Me

Sadie Jo is a notional 33 year old real estate broker with a serious case of wanderlust. When she is invited to be a bridesmaid in her cousin’s wedding back home,  Sadie finds herself dreading the bubble yum dress and lack of a date. Vince is an ex Navy SEAL visiting his crazy aunt Luraleen. When his truck breaks down by the side of the road, Sadie is passing by. She ends up giving him a lift and asks him to be her date as repayment. There is chemistry between the two but is it more than just a physical connection?

One of the highlights of Rescue Me is the small town setting. In Lovett, gossip is a professional sport. The closer your hair is to God, the better. Also, don’t you dare say there’s nothing to do in Lovett or the residents will get angry. This town is charming even with it’s faults. Gibson peppers the book with fun southern sayings that really add to the atmosphere and spirit of the book.

The romance in Rescue Me is overwhelmingly physical — Sadie and Vince being mostly friends with benefits, emphasis on the benefits. Their scenes together crack with heat. Sometimes Vince is a little much on the macho manly-man front, but in all the two make a good couple and balance each other out.

Steam up your summer with Rescue Me, a romance that will appeal to fans who are looking for a little more R and a little less PG13 in their reading.

Comments

  1. The cover has a very YA feel to it. I love small town stories, but I’m not a big romance fan, so I think I’ll pass on this one.

  2. Rachel Gibson’s stories are always fun–I think I’ll have to check it out! Especially, since it sounds like many Southernisms are thrown around. Love books set in the South!

  3. I really need to read a Gibson book, everyone raves about them!!

But come on, Small Town? Ex-Seal? Steamy? PERFECT Summer Read!! (Since I’ll be spending a lot of time poolside while my twerp plays!!)
