In My Mailbox (69)

Yo, so it’s that time where I talk to y’all about the books that came in my mail! This is a meme hosted by The Story Siren. I very much enjoy participating!

IMM 69

For Review:

Rescue Me by Rachel Gibson (Vine) – I was totally in the mood for adult contemporary romance, you know something more steamy than FADE TO BLACK, so I immediately selected this one. Also? That little excerpt they always put before the title page in romance? TOTALLY A SEX SCENE.

Lone Bean by Chudney Ross (Vine) – So, this is totally the opposite of Rescue Me. I decided on Lone Bean because its a multicultural YA, plus the main character, Bean, plays the violin and I love that!

Dark Companion by Marta Acosta (Vine) -SINISTER BOARDING SCHOOL OH FUCK YESSSSSS.

Ascendant by Diana Peterfreund (Unsolicited) – I actually read and LOVED and reviewed Ascendant already! Still, it’s thrilling to have a copy for my shelves. πŸ˜€

For Darkness Shows The Stars by Diana Peterfreund (Unsolicited) – Ahhhhh, FINISHED COPY! I almost started petting this like a weirdo, but then I was like girl, you better check yo self before you wreck yo self.

Wicked Nights by Gena Showalter (Unsolicited) – Okay, I am actually going to read this book. There’s a criminally insane institution and the cover is hella sexy.

Pretty Crooked by Elisa Ludwig (Blog Tour) – I am one of the stops for the Lit Logistics blog tour of this modern day Robin Hood book. I am beyond excited to be a part of this rockin’ tour!

Birthmarked by Caragh M. O’Brien (Unsolicited) – Sigh. I had Tony open my packages while I was gone. And sigh. He must have done something with the press release and I have no idea who this came from or why! BUT I have heard plenty of great buzz for this trilogy so yo, I am going to read the heck out of Birthmarked.

Crewel by Gennifer Albin (Requested Review Copy) – HELLO SHINY PURPLE PACKAGE! I can’t wait to read the hell out of Crewel especially after hearing it talked up at one of the Buzz Panels I went to at BEA. ALSO YOU GUYS I resisted grabbing a copy of this at BEA because I knew it would come in my mail. YAYYYYYY. YAYYY NO GRABBY HANDS! YAYYY.

  6. Haha, I actually apologized to Ksenia at BEA for having gotten a copy of Crewel and Eve and Adam when I knew she was sending them to me, but I wanted them signed, and did stand in some lines for them. πŸ˜›

Interested in your thoughts on For Darkness Shows the Stars because I feel like reviews have been all over the place thus far. I’m not a huge Persuasion buff, so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy a skeleton retelling of it.

    • LOL, yeah I was literally standing and talking to Alison and she was like why not grab a copy of Crewel and I’m like BUT I REQUESTED IT I CAN’T TAKE AN EXTRA!!!! Sigh.

I am going to try to read For Darkness Shows The Stars this week.

  7. Gorgeous books! I got For Darkness Shows the Stars at BEA and almost had the same reaction. The cover is just. so. pretty.

  8. Sweet shirt! See you at Fierce Reads!

  9. So obviously your books are awesome. I can’t wait to read Crewel and Shadow and Bone. And YAY for the Pretty Crooked blog tour! I’m excited to be a part of that one, too!! BUT let’s cut right to the chase: I can’t believe your shirt came already because MINE IS STILL NOT HERE AND IT LOOKS AWESOME. GAAH! GAAAAAAAAHHH!

    • Yo, I walked out to my mailbox like a pimp with swagger, cuz I totally knew that baller shirt would be in there.

I just started Pretty Crooked, it’s great except for the overabundance of teen-speak.

  10. Jealous of your GAME OF THRONES tee — I just started watching and I’m hooked!

  11. Shadow and Bone and Of Poseidon!! SHADOW AND BONE AND OF POSEIDON!!!

  12. Him, that cover of wicked nights is pretty uh…wicked. Looks like you had a great mailbox!

  13. Very nice stuff!
I so need to read Rescue Me! It sounds pretty awesome.

  14. While I love boarding schools and the gothic genre I was totally grossed out by Dark Companion. It’s… well, you’ll see. But for lack of a better word? It’s kinky.

    Happy reading πŸ˜‰

  15. Ooooo for many nice shiny booooks. I want to read Crewel. I am jealous of you for experiencing its glitteriness x

  16. I really want to read For Darkness Shows the Stars!

  17. I can’t wait for Tuesday to get here so I can read For Darkness Shows the Stars. Persuasion is one of my favorite Jane Austen books so I’m super excited about this one. Rescue Me looks really good too. I have been tempted to buy it for Kindle (I think it is under $5) but want to get through some of my other unread books on their first. I love how they include those excerpts at the beginning of romance novels. They really know how to hook readers…

    • That’s sort of how I am about buying new books now, I want to get through some of my unread books before I buy new ones. Also? Those excerpts are the best ha ha.

  18. I really enjoyed Birthmarked. It was a unique dystopian. I should read the sequel one of these days…Enjoy all your new books!

  19. Awesome IMM!! YAY for Fierce Reads! I hope you enjoy Birthmarked. I really liked it. It was one of my first YA dystopians I read and really enjoyed it.

  20. I got my Fierce Reads books this week too!! I’m so excited to finally have finished copies πŸ˜€ They’re gorgeous!!!

  21. Hey girl, what a fantastic set of books! And in glitter…oooh! Shiny!! LOL
    Hope you enjoy them all.
Thanks for commenting on my IML πŸ™‚

  22. I love your haul! Struck is AMAZING! I love Ms. Bosworth, she is really awesome! Have fun at the fierce reads tour πŸ˜€ Of Poseidon has been on my tbr list for months! I love underwater themed books, but I still need to borrow it from the Library!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! πŸ˜€

  29. My shirt FINALLY came yesterday!

    Holla.

  30. Oh I really enjoyed Birthmarked! It was unlike anything else I’ve read in terms of the world O’Brien created, and I really liked that about it. I haven’t read the second book & have heard it’s a little disappointing. Either way, I’m excited that you’ve got that book to look forward to and I can’t wait to read your review!
