Hey friends, I want to welcome Terra Elan McVoy to Good Books And Good Wine today, as part of her Being Friends With Boys Blog Tour. Y’all, Being Friends With Boys is an enjoyable contemporary book and I am SO excited to have Terra here. And without further ado, I will turn it over to Terra.

Being Friends With Boys

Ever since my novel, Being Friends With Boys was released, I’ve been asked a lot about friendships between guys and girls. Is it possible, for one thing (duh, yes), and how is being friends with boys different than being friends with girls. I happen to be very lucky to have had friendships with both guys and girls all through middle- and high school, and continue to have fantastic friendships with men (and women) to this day. Though I think the value and intensity of guy/girl friendships and girl/girl friendships are definitely equal, there certainly are some differences. Follow my blog tour to read a few of my thoughts on how being friends with boys isn’t quite the same as being friends with girls!

5.  The movies you see together are different.

Not even my husband would go to see “The Time Traveler’s Wife” with me. And when my best friend Tom and I wanted to play hooky from work and go see a summer movie, gorging ourselves on movie food all afternoon, did we see anything with Reese Witherspoon or Rachel McAdams in it? No. We went to see “The Hulk.” This is not to say I don’t go see deep, interesting, even sensitive movies with my guy friends—it’s just that usually they are weird foreign or indie films, and most often the main character is definitely a dude.

Thanks so much for stopping by, Terra!

My experience has been a little different. I mean, when I watched movies with my male friends back in high school, all I had to do was smile and politely ask to watch a certain movie and that is the movie we would watch. Granted, we did not watch a lot of romantic comedies, but every other weekend when we did movie nights we ended up watching Disney movies, cuz y’all my male friends and female friends are awesome.

WAIT DON’T GO AWAY YET!

I have a copy of Being Friends With Boys to give away to one lucky reader  thanks to Lit Logistics— and friends this contest is INTERNATIONAL!

Comments

  1. My male friends usually gave in to group pressure from us girls about what movie to watch 😉 And Disney movies are the best!

  2. thanks for the giveaway! 😀 and well, to come to think of it, my guy friends never really watch ~girly movies~ with me! But we all love Pixars.

  3. Awesome! Thank you so much for the interview and the giveaway!

  4. I did have some great guy friends in high school and college, and I have some great guy friends now. There’s only been 1 guy friend that I’ve been friends with since elementary school. Longest friendship ever. There was one thing about my guy friends though… they became rather protective and judgemental about the few guys I dated. I guess it was the whole “brother” feel. Thank you for the interview and giveaway!

  5. Okay so, fingers crossed, I won’t have to borrow this from the library and I win. haha. 🙂 Thx for the giveaway! Always appreciated!

  6. haha That’s awesome that you got them do watch disney with you. 🙂
