Hey everyone, it’s Allison!

I really wanted to do this week’s Top Ten Tuesday for Good Books and Good Wine in order to force myself to actually focus and pick out the books that I wanted to read this summer. Hopefully this will help me not only get through my reading pile a bit but, will also allow me to have a more enjoyable summer by already knowing what I plan on reading. No stressing out trying to decide what to read next! Woo hoo.

1. Insurgent – Veronica Roth

Insurgent

Why? I have been looking forward to the sequel to Divergent since I finished it. So, the question begs to be asked, why haven’t I read Insurgent yet? I’m not sure honestly but, I definitely plan on reading it this summer. I can’t wait for more Tris and Four goodness!

2. A Million Suns – Beth Revis

Why? After enjoying Across the Universe so much, I’m so excited to continue with Amy and Elder’s adventure on Godspeed. Thus, this book will be read this summer, if I have anything to say about it.

3. The Graceling Realm Trilogy (Graceling ; Fire ; Bitterblue) – Kristin Cashore

seven kingdoms trilogy Kristin Cashore

Why? April has been pushing me to read this trilogy for the longest time, especially after we went to the Kristin Cashore signing at Oblong Books. She swears that I will fall in love with it, and given that she knows me so well I’m willing to be that I will. I can’t wait to find another story that I want to read over and over again.

4. Breaking Beautiful – Jennifer Shaw Wolf

breaking beautiful Jennifer Shaw Wolf

Why? The premise of this book sounds heartbreaking but, I’m still excited to read it. I think it’ll help balance out my summer. Also, I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book. I’m looking forward to having a good cry with it.

5.Freaks Like Us – Susan Vaught

freaks like us Susan Vaught

Why? I received this book at BEA from Bloomsbury, and it sounds right up my alleyway. It’s a mystery where the main character is a boy with schizophrenia and he is the only one who can help find his missing best friend. Given my background in psychology, I have a strong feeling that this story will hook me from the beginning, and I’m excited to read it.

6. Carnival of Souls – Melissa Marr

Why? Ahhh. I’m so glad I managed to get a copy of this at BEA! It sounds amazing. I can’t wait to explore The City, and see what the Carnival of Souls is all about.

7. Valkyrie Rising – Ingrid Paulson

Why? I received this book as a gift for attending the Kristin Cashore signing at Oblong Books and it sounds super good! Norway. Mythology. Romance. Yes, please!

8. The Diviners – Libba Bray

Why? One of my ‘fan girl’ moments of BEA was when I was getting my copy of The Diviners signed by the amazing Libba Bray, and I told her how much I love her books (because I do!) and she took my hand and thanked me for loving her work. Ahh. That being said, I’m super excited to read it, and see what she has in store for us this time.

9. Origin – Jessica Khoury

Why? Romance mixed with mystery and jungle conspiracy? I’m definitely interested.

10. Firelight – Kristen Callihan

Firelight Kristen Callihan Book Cover

Why? Ever since I first found out about it I’ve really wanted to read it. Rumor has it that it is pretty sexy. Also, it is historically based, and contains fantasy, and magic. Sounds pretty good, right? It is also the only non-YA book on my TBR list this summer.

So, there’s my list. What’s on yours?

The following two tabs change content below.
Allison is 27 years old. She is always looking for new books, good music, quality/epic adventures, and a normal sleep schedule. She currently works with the elderly.

  24. I really want to read the Graceling series, too. I’ve heard it’s one of the best fantasy series in YA-dom, and that’s saying a lot!

  25. Mary @ My Sisters Bookshelf says

I am so jealous of your Libba Bray encounter! I can’t wait to get the Diviners! I have had Beauty Queens on my mind so much ever since Miss USA gave an awesome answer to the transgender beauty queens question!
