In My Mailbox (66)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren that I really enjoy participating in. Basically you talk about the books you obtained during the week and then take the time to check out other blogs and drool over what came in their mailbox. It’s a pretty neat community builder.

Yo, so most of you who communicate with me on the twitters know that I went to Chicago very, very last minute this week, as in I found out on Monday that I would be flying out on Wednesday. And, sigh, I was without solid internet access until Saturday night. On the upside, I read 3 netgalley books (While He Was Away, Of Poseidon, Something Like Normal AND I started Code Name Verity) plus I came home to a sweet stack of mail!

In My Mailbox Changeling

I Am Going To Read The Hell Out Of These Books

Borrowed:

The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead – HUGE FLAILY ARMED THANKS to Heidi at the YA Bibliophile for letting me borrow The Golden Lily, it’s fantastic so far and I was pumped to come home to that package.

For Review:

Throne of Glass by Sarah Maas (Netgalley) – Y’all know that fantasy is totally my kryptonite, I can’t resist it so I kind of whooped at being approved for this book, like a total dork. But c’mon, I bet you’d be whooping at your netgalley approvals too.

The Unquiet by Jeannine Garsee (Netgalley) – Okay, so um there’s a murder and a cray cray girl? Bish, my clicky finger went NUTS when I saw this.

All These Things I’ve Done by Gabrielle Zevin (unsolicited) – I have already read and reviewed and LOVED this, but yay paperback copy.

Because It Is My Blood by Gabrielle Zevin (unsolicited) – YOU GUYS! I am so pumped about this, like I was going to wait in line at the BEA for this noise, but then it came in my mail and I am like bahahaha no line waiting and did a small little happy dance and my boyfriend was all calm the eff down crazy girl and I was like, hun you know how I get about lines, and then he understood why I was SOOOO excited.

The Battle Of Blood And Ink by Jared Axelrod and Steve Walker (Unsolicited) – Steampunk graphic novel? Be still my heart. Seriously, I just love me some graphic novels always and forever.

Changeling by Philippa Gregory audiobook (accepted review copy) – Bro, I love both audiobooks AND historical fiction and I also really liked the one Philippa Gregory book I read. I am legit pumped to listen to this book on my run and commute.

Darkness Before Dawn by JA London (unsolicited) – I am not even sure what this is about, also there is a sad girl in a pretty dress. However, I’ll keep an open mind, I suppose.

  1. OOOH you’ll have to tell me how the Changeling narrator sounds! Maybe I’ll listen to it while traveling to BEA! I’m also pretending The Golden Lily isn’t in your mailbox BECAUSE I DON’T CARE bhajfdasiffeaip

  2. Darkness Before Dawn is one I am excited for. I love when dystopian books are mixed with the paranormal. Can’t wait to hear your thought on those netgalley reads. Something Like Normal and While He Was Away both sound good! Enjoy! πŸ™‚
You can check out what books I got this week here!

  3. Nice mailbox. That was nice of your friend to loan you the Golden Lily. Great haul as usual April. Such a diversity of books. Come visit me as well.

  4. OMG you got Golden Lily i’m so jealous πŸ˜€ ! I can’t wait to read it !

  5. If Throne of Glass doesn’t sound like the BOMB fantasy, I don’t know what does. You should totally read some of the novellas for that world–they just make you more antsy to read. AND ALSO BECAUSE IT IS MY BLOOD. I’m going to miss this at BEA because it’s Tuesday and I’m going Wednesday, but I can’t wait to read it. Dystopian mob FTW!!

  6. AHGJDSGDBHJKFCDSZNIKJLH. I HATE YOU. I don’t. But I might. I do a little. OKAY, IT’S HATELOVE. The Golden Lily *sob* I need that book like AIR. My own fault, for stalking every Goodreads status update and review I can find. I apparently enjoy self-torture. BUT IT’S THE GOLDEN LILY.

OMG. And Throne of Glass?! That sounds effing amazing. Not to mention the cover is a crazy mix of badassery and gorgeousness. I’m also super excited for Changeling. Haven’t read anything by Philippa Gregory, but this sounds SO GOOD.

Hahaha so awesome you you got Because It Is My Blood. Now you just have to wait in line for the 75 other books you’re all grabby hands for πŸ˜›

    Enjoy your freaking fantastic books!

  7. I’m so jealous of Because It’s My Blood! I loved the first book so I can’t wait to read the second one! I hope you enjoy everything and here’s my IMM!

Yea, I’ll be waiting to hear your thoughts on Darkness Before Dawn, been curious to see if it’s something I want to read.

  19. AHHH I totally freaked out when I was approved for Throne of Glass a few weeks ago – I still haven’t read it, but I’m SO excited to. And I had a copy of All These Things I’ve Done from the library, but wasn’t able to get to it before it was due and it made me super sad πŸ™ I need to get my hands on it again!

    Awesome mailbox this week πŸ™‚

  20. I’m SO jealous that you got Throne of Glass! I wanted it but my blog is still fairly new, so no luck. I hope it’s amazing though! The first few pages are available on Facebook so I’ll be reading that for now. I’ve already preordered the book anyway!

    Enjoy your books πŸ™‚
    Here’s my IMM

  21. I just finished Changeling and it was really great, but definitely plot driven. I’m down with that. Anyway, I am SO jealous of Because it is My Blood. AND PISSED about the cover AND title change. I loved the original title (All the Kingdoms of the World) and the cover for ATTID was so original and awesome. ARGH. But I’m so excited, still. Also, The Unquiet sounds so kickass.

  22. I’m slowly cracking under the direct and indirect pressure to read All These Things I’ve Done. I’M SEEING IT EVERYWHERE. But, more importantly, I want to read CHANGELING. I hear the writer’s a historical fic goddess and therefore I MUST READ. So exciting that you got The Golden Lily! It’s seriously the bombdiggity. I wouldn’t lie. πŸ˜€

  23. I might just be really jealous of your copy of Because It Is My Blood. For REALS.
