In My Mailbox (65)

Yo, so I am still going to participate in In My Mailbox because I LIKE doing it. And also for many of the reasons Heidi at Bunbury In The Stacks outlined here. In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren and basically you talk about the books you obtained during the week. It is legit fun times and is a nice way to meet other book bloggers!

So, my mailbox overflowth, y’all.

Overflowing Stacks

Purchased:

I kind of went buck wild these past few weeks with my credit card, but at least I have a pretty stack of books to show for my spending habits!

From The Kristin Cashore signing: I have read and reviewed the entire trilogy!

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Fire by Kristin Cashore

Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore

Ordered With My Gift Card Of LOVE:

The First Days by Rhiannon Frater – Peeps, Giselle at Xpresso Reads’s love for this series is contagious. Also? Tor keeps sending me books from the series, so I figured I might as well by the first. OH and Tony said he’d read it too, because of the zombie factor.

Fire And Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones with an introduction by Garth Nix – So, Chachic posted about the re-released Diana Wynne Jones books and I absolutely could not resist ordering Fire And Hemlock.

The Broken Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin – This is the second of a trilogy and I really loved the first book, The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms.

Hounded by Kevin Hearne – Pretty much everyone I know who has read The Iron Druid Chronicles LOVES them and you guys I want to love them too!

A Clash Of Kings by George RR Martin – I have been lusting after this book for awhile, and lust even harder every time I log on twitter and people are tweeting about Season 2 of Game Of Thrones and also, I was a SUPER HUGE FAN of the first book.

The Drowned Cities by Paolo Bacigalupi audiobook – I am one of those people who HAS to continue a series in the same format, and since I listened to Ship Breaker, I am currently listening to this one as well.

I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga audiobook – Listened to about 2 minutes of I Hunt Killers and decided, what better way to spend one of my credits?

When You Were Mine by Rebecca Searle audiobook – I desperately wanted to read this and I feel like the only way I will be able to make time for it is by audio-ing it.

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle audiobook – So, there were 5 audible audiobooks on sale for $0.95 for members and of course I bought ALL of them.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain audiobook

Pride And Prejudice by Jane Austen audiobook

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett audiobook

A Tale Of Two Cities by Charles Dickens audiobook

Stolen Crown: The Secret Marriage That Forever Changed The Fate Of England by Susan Higginbotham – For my kindle. This was free for a few days I think.

For Review:

One Moment by Kristina McBride (Netgalley) – I really liked McBride’s debut, The Tension Of Opposites, so when I saw this one was available on Netgalley as read now, of course I had to have it.

Code Name  Verity by Elizabeth Wein (Netgalley) – After all of the positive reviews from my friends who I deeply trust, I had to snap this one up when I saw it being offered up as a read now book.

The Siren by Tiffany Reisz (Unsolicited) – So, apparently this one is kind of erotic, lol so I immediately go OH A SEXYYY BOOK after tearing open the package.

Sunrise Point by Robyn Carr (Unsolicited) – Sigh.

Kill Switch by Chris Lynch (Vine) – YAYYY FINISHED COPY!

The Lost Code by Kevin Emerson (Vine) – So, this one sounds really cool. Also? Atlantis, might be involved and Atlantis is the shit.

Hemlock by Katherine Peacock (Vine) – OMG everyone I know who has read Hemlock sings it’s praises like all the time, and you guys I WANT TO PRAISE SING.

The Wild Queen by Carolyn Meyer (Vine) – I am always down for YA historical fiction about royalty, so why the heck not.

Revived by Cat Patrick (Blog Tour) – I already read this book and you guys, it is awesome. PUT IT ON YOUR TBRS!

So… the other day I got this unsolicited box in my mail from Harper Teen and I may have screamed A LOT upon seeing a box FOR MEEEE. Here’s what was in it:

Harper Collins Box

Whatever Could Be Inside?

Summer And The City by Candace Bushnell – I really like the show Sex In The City, but I also read a Candace Bushnell book that was awful – Four Blondes.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver (already read and reviewed here)

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver (already read and reviewed here)

The Fame Game by Lauren Conrad – LOL. Do you guys know if there is a drinking game for this book?

Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris – Second finished copy. I think it’s a sign from fate that I need to read it!

The Selection by Kiera Cass – Y’all, this copy is SOOOO pretty. AHHH.

The Ivy: Rivals by Lauren Kunze and Rina Onur – Heh, so I wasn’t a fan of the first book in the series, but I may borrow the second from the library and give it another chance.

My apologies that the books aren’t linked to Amazon or Goodreads. I did an overnight shift last night and am a tiny bit too exhausted to hunt down all of the links.

  2. I AM SO PISSED THAT YOU DIDN’T LINK TO GOODREADS EVEN THOUGH YOU WERE UP ALL NIGHT WHAT A BLOGGING DISGRACE.

also, FUN BOOKS. I might have to check out the When You Were Mine audiobook because I loved the book, but I’m worried that I might punch the car speakers in anger…(I felt many emotions while reading WYWM). Oh and uhm YES, you should read Unraveling. YES. You’d love it, I think.

  3. WOWzers! your mailbox does overflowth! Lots of really good titles in there though! I really need to get into audio books now that my commuting schedule has changed. I did read The Siren by Tiffany Reisz….. i liked it! It’s a really quick read with ample sexy times! Hope you enjoy them all! happy reading!

  4. That’s a lot of books!! I still need to pick up a copy of Bitterblue because that series is amazing! Already pre-ordered Revived and hoping it arrives soon. The author is going to be at a local event in 2 weeks and I am excited to get to meet her! Happy reading. 🙂

If you are interested, you can see what books I got this week Here!

  5. Um, that’s as lot of books. 🙂

I read one Candace Bushnell book that I really liked, Lipstick Jungle. But it was awhile ago now, my tastes might have changed. Also, the TV show was terrible.

  6. You got so many awesome books this week! I can’t wait to read The Fame Game and I also got Code Name Verity on Net Galley so hopefully I’ll be able to read that one soon. I read the first book by Candace Bushnell which was The Carrie Diaries, and I loved it I can’t wait to read the second book =) I hope you enjoy everything and here’s my IMM!

  7. That’s a ton of awesome stuff!! I’m looking forward to reading many of them–especially Hemlock, When You Were Mine, and Revived!! Glad to hear you loved Revived, because I keep seeing iffy reviews of it—hope I enjoy it, too! 😀

  8. Oh my God April!! SO MANY book!! Love it 🙂 Enjoy all your awesome books this week 😉 🙂

  9. I should probs read When You Were Mine – Tara from Hobbitsies and Vee & Tee from Y.A. Crush (a blog I think you would like, BTW) LOVED it. Will check it out! And feel free to send that second copy of Unraveling my way! Happy reading, so many books you have look awesome!

  10. GAME OF THRONES.
    For freaking ever, yo.

  11. Jasmine Rose says

Holy wow, that’s a lot of books! I’ve been dying to read Unraveling for ages.

  12. Yay, glad you decided to buy a copy of Fire and Hemlock as well! I haven’t gotten around to reading it but it’s always nice to add Diana Wynne Jones books to our shelves. 😛 And you have Code Name Verity as well, can’t wait to see what you think of that.

  13. What an amazing bunch o’ books! I got One Moment and Code Name Verity too, looking forward to them both!

And I can tell you must love Kristen Cashore’s books, I need to find out more about that series

  14. DAYYYYYUUUUUUUUM, April, a lot of books much? Wow, where do I even start? I so very much need the rest of the Graceling series, like no joke. I already told you I have Fire sitting around here, patiently waiting, but I’ve seen some hot reviews for Bitterblue and IT’S KILLING ME. I am SO VERY JELLY of your hardcover of The Selection. IT’S BEAUTIFUL. That cover!!! And I would love a physical copy of Hemlock because that bad boy has a delish cover. The library coughed up Unraveling so I’ve GOT TO GET ON THAT. I’ve heard too many good things to ignore it. I think it is a sign that YOU MUST READ it. Code Name Verity is one I’ve heard tons of good things about too and I jumped on the chance to read it myself! Looks so good! AY-MAZING mailbox, April.

(And I love that you linked to Heidi because she is a G)

  15. So many yummy books – so jealous!!!!! I’ve just finished Hemlock and agree it is full of win 🙂 I also actually liked The Selection – it was a bit of a guilty pleasure, kinda like eating ice cream while watching the biggest loser haha!

    My IMM for the week:

    Happy Reading!

  16. Goodness gracious, girl! That is so many things! Enjoy them all.

Guessing you’re not a Robyn Carr fan? lol.

  17. I selfishly wish you wouldn’t do it 😉 (Not for any other reason than that I’m always insanely jealous of your mailbox!! *lol* )

Most specifically this week? I am dying to read Hemlock, DYING!! (And I see Robyn Carr in there? I need to read something by her… I’m kind of shocked that I never have.)

  18. Massive IMM! I really want to read I HUNT KILLERS and THE SELECTION. Happy reading!

  19. Ha! I’m curious about The Fame Game. I read Lauren’s other series as a challenge, and it was one… although there were some good moments. I wonder if she’s grown as a writer at all. I’m still not sure she wrote those herself. What a freaking awesome piece of mail. There’s a lot of goodies in there!

  20. Tots loved When You Were Mine. Kind of fast and rapid at times, but great story! Can’t wait to see what you think about it. I’m sure it will be a great one to listen to! And um, yeah, great haul! 🙂

  21. The awesomeness of your haul is blinding! 🙂 I absolutely LOVED The Broken Kingdoms and the third in the series The Kingdom of Gods! And A Clash of Kings is amazing and heartbreaking and epic! YAY FANTASY!
Also, I hope you do sing the praises of Hemlock, cause I thought it was pretty awesome 🙂
Happy reading! And happy just staring at your pile 😉

  22. Thanks for linking me April! <3 I'm glad that you share a lot of my thoughts on IMM. =)

Also holy books Batman! I kind of don't even know where to start, there are so many I can't wait for you to read. Code Name Verity, I Hunt Killers, A Clash of Kings, and as I really want to read Fire and Hemlock and Hounded myself, I want to hear what you think!

  23. Crazy amount of books this week! I’m planning on buying Bitterblue but I listened to Fire and Graceling on audio – think I’m gonna have to finish the series up on audio. I’m weird like that. 😛

  24. Fire and Hemlock <333 that's one of those books that will stick with you even when you don't remember reading it

  25. JACKPOT!! Look at all that loot!!!

Have you seen the UK cover for The Selection? Looks the same but with some pink. Looks like cotton candy. I love it!
