April 2012 Readathon Update One

Yo, peeps. It’s the beginning of a LONG day of reading and having a blast with my community of book bloggers and readers by participating in the Dewey Readathon. Seriously, I LOVE this time of year. It’s one of the times where I feel so connected to everyone in the book blogging community because so many of us spend as many hours as we can during the Dewey 24 reading and  cheering each other on.

Sentiments aside…

First Book Read:

The Magic Finger Roald Dahl book cover

The Magic Finger

I know, it’s practically cheating, but you guys The Magic Finger took like 10 minutes to read because it has big print, lots of pictures, and oh yeah is like 50 pages and written for children.

Food consumed: Just coffee!

Listened to: Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi read by Scott Brick while typing this post for like 10 minutes.

Introductory Questionairre:
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

Upstate NY HOLLAAAAA
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

The Invention Of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

Pita chips and roasted red pepper hummus
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

I am a big fan of laughter. I always pick really short books for readathons to feel accomplished. I have some bizarre traditions when it comes to readathons — like I always have to read a Roald Dahl book.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

I am trying to eat lighter, healthier food this readathon. Usually I snack on junk food and foods with empty calories during readathons. Today it’s all about the fruits and veggies.

Comments

  1. Always love the Roald Dahl! I have some veggies and hummus for today, too 🙂

  2. I love that you always read a Roald Dahl book during your read-a-thon’s. Very cool.

It’s impossible to enjoy 24 hrs of peace and quiet with a toddler, BUT my son (14 months) loves books and we’ve stopped to read his books a few times today already. I’ve also got my HP and the Order of the Phoenix audio book on! I’m still enjoying some reading time.

    Happy read-a-thon April!

  3. does your copy of The Magic Finger have see through pages? mine does. it’s awesome. happy readathoning!

  4. Looks like you are well on your way! I just finished my first book, Across the Universe. I only had about 60 pages left.

  5. Red pepper hummus is amazing! It should fuel your reading nicely.

  6. I also have several picture books and books that are 150 pages or less in my stacks. I figured when my eyes are getting tired I could read one of these books.

  7. I like picking short books too, not that I always do… WHY do I never remember to throw a good kids book in there, like one by Roald Dahl?

I feel all accomplished because I finished my first book and it was 258 pages, but there were a ton of photos, blank pages, and huge margins on the pages with text. FLEW through it.

    Have fun readathoning!

  8. Popping in to see how you are doing… The Magic Finger? I want to read that!!! 🙂 Have an awesome time with the read a thon April!
