  1. I forgot about P.S I Love You! The book is ten times better than the film (even though the film is still great!) in my opinion. Between Shades of Gray is in my TBR pile, and I just know I’m going to cry as I read it!

    Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  2. A Monster Calls makes my list too. I don’t think I moved for half an hour after reading it.

I am THE biggest crybaby but for some reason I’m the only person in the world (well probably not quite) who didn’t love PS I Love You all that much. Probably because I’d not long read Anybody Out There by Marion Keyes (which I totally forgot to put on my list until I saw on someone elses) and thought it was SO much better.

  3. MANCHEEEEEEE!

  4. Haven’t read P. S. I love you, but I watched the movie. Didn’t know what it was about and only wanted to watch it because Gerard Butler was in it. My mom laughed at me as I sobbed and yelled: “why did no one warn me!”

Also, The Knife of Never Letting Go is an evil, cruel, heart-breaking book.

  5. As a self-proclaimed “I don’t like to cry” person, I’ve not read any of these books… but the covers are pretty 🙂 Thanks for the heads-up on P.S. I Love You… didn’t think it was a sad book/movie…..now I’m warned.

  6. P.S. I Love You was my number one as well… (Not that I really went in any specific order!)

After today? I really need to read If I Stay. It’s made 96% of the lists I’ve read…

Come see my Top Ten / Teaser Tuesday!

  7. I love that the title of your post is the same as mine! (well, same song at least 🙂 ) I’d totally forgotten about P.S. I Love You; such a wonderful book! The only other one on your list I’ve read is A Monster Calls and yes! This broke my heart… so sad and powerful.

  8. Oh! The Probability of Miracles and Between Shades of Gray! How did I forget about those two?! I can’t wait to get my hands on Raw Blue!

  9. If I Stay (AND Where She Went) both broke my heart so bad. PS I love you was another good one. I’ve got The Name of the Wind on my list to-read.
    🙂

  10. I had A Monster Calls on my list, too. That book just destroyed me.

Also, you can never go wrong with Pat Benetar.

  11. A Monster Calls looks intriguing! The description at your link reminds me of Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean’s MirrorMask (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0366780/).

  12. Oh my gosh, I haven’t read any of your listed books but was so delighted to see Pat Benatar in your title. I thought I was the only one!

    Happy reading!

  13. I’ve been seeing The Probability of Miracles on a few sites, so I’m obviously going to have to read it. Love the post title, and you know that song is now stuck in my head.

  14. Probability of Miracles is on my list too. It made me cry right before I had to start work. NOt the greatest way to start off the working day,but I had to finished the book!

  15. Oh I forgot to add Probability of Miracles and Between Shades of Gray! Yes to the heartbreak there. And A Monster Calls had me tearing up too. Really want to pick up Raw Blue sometime soon.
    Happy Valentine’s Day!

  16. Between Shades of Gray is on my list as well! I actually didn’t like The Knife of Never Letting Go much, but wow, that scene with Manchee really was heartbreaking:(

  17. I read PS I Love You years ago, but every time I reread it, I find my heart breaks even more. It’s just so incredibly sad (though I absolutely love the concept).

  18. Yes, yes, and more yes! Great list! Poor Kvothe’s childhood, and then a certain demise of a certain character in The Knife of Never Letting Go – sobbing definitely occurred. I haven’t read a couple of these…must remedy that soonly!

  19. I just got A Rogue By Any Other Name in the mail…I’m wondering why it was so heartbreaking now. Can’t wait! I have Between Shades of Grey, If I Stay, and Knife of Never Letting Go on my wishlist. Great choice!

  20. Oh my gosh, P.S. I Love You is a book?! I think I went through an entire box of tissues during that movie. Break my heart a little? I think it scared it forever! I watched that movie through a haze of water of my own making…so sad!

  21. I’ve only read 3 of these books, but strictly judging the cover of The One And Only Ivan…I mean nothing screams happy about a gorilla and a baby elephant in a spotlight…ever.

  22. You have to read past The Knife of Never Letting Go. I will never stop saying this. NEVER.

I have Probability of Miracles sitting in my Contemps pile, but now I’m a little bit afraid. I fear the contemps, especially if they are emotional and tearjerker-y.

  23. If I stay was really heart breaking!! Completely agree! 🙂

  24. I haven’t read any of these. Not a single one! I am a failure as a book blogger! Lol.

I’m interested in checking out all of these, but I really want to read The Probability of Miracles. I’ve heard so many good things about it!

  25. I’ve seen The Knife of Never Letting Go on several lists. I love a book that makes me cry, so it’s going back in the TBR pile (can’t remember why I ever took it out?). And A Monster Calls and If I Stay both made me cry SO HARD. If they are any indication of the heartbreak-ness of the others on your list, I’ll have to read some of them as well! The Probability of Miracles sounds like a good one, too.

  26. A bunch that are on my TBR list! Here’s our Top 10

  27. I actually didn’t request The One and Only Ivan because it looked so sad (I mean, just look at those critters on the cover! *sob*). Some great books on that list, though. And, darn you, I’ve been singing that song ever since I read your title. Ear worm!

  28. PS I LOVE YOU!!! That book gave me MAJOR sads! Good call. And I need to read The Knife of Never Letting Go. I keep hearing all the Patrick Ness love everywhere and now that I’ve read A Monster Calls, I need to jump on his books!

  29. Ahhh so many great choices! If I Stay, Raw Blue and Between Shades of Gray were all amazing.

  30. If I Stay was seriously such a sad book to get through. It’s so sad that I haven’t yet read Where She Went because I’m not sure I want to put myself through that kind of sadness again just quite yet. Same deal with the Patrick Ness books – I have them on my shelf, but I’m biding my time!

Great list – I shall have to check out some of these titles/bump some of them up on my TBR list 🙂

  31. Yes! I don’t know why I didn’t even think of The Name of the Wind. I love it so much, but you’re right, it is heartbreaking. The whole story is one of those where you know things aren’t going to go well from the beginning, but you still let yourself be emotionally jerked around the entire book. Ack!

  32. Raw Blue looks really good and I’m so in love with the cover of The One and Only Ivan. Hoping it didn’t break your heart because of animal death though.

  33. So…apparently I should be prepared to bawl my freaking eyes out when I read the Chaos Walking series? Did I understand this list correctly?
