The Probability Of Miracles Wendy Wunder Audiobook Review

I love when authors take my heart and crush it into tiny little pieces, but then make it swell like a balloon. Keep playing with my emotions, because I love to read and feel. The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder is a book that gets under your skin. Campbell Cooper, main character, is a person who I totally was invested in and I connected with her character and rooted for her.

The Probability Of Miracles

As The Probability Of Miracles by Wendy Wunder  begins, Cam has a very brash attitude, she refuses to let people in – for good reason. Cam has cancer and her forecast is not good. With her BFF Lily, Cam makes a bucket list of sorts -called a flamingo list. As the hospital treatments aren’t working, Cam and her family seize on the idea of moving to Promise, Maine a place where miracles happen as a last ditch effort. As Cam spends the summer in Promise, she checks items off of her flamingo list. Love may be in the air between Cam and golden boy Asher.

Oh, friends, The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder affected me. It’s third person and by distance of the narrator, we get to watch Cam royally fail, but also triumph. You can’t predict whether she lives or not because The Probability Of Miracles is not told in first person. We get to see Cam gain hope and a new zest and appreciation for life. Plus the cameo of adorable animals. Hell, I’m a bit choked up writing this review. If you want a book that will slam into you and tug the hell out of your emotions, The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder is for you.

I’m surprised The Probability Of Miracles is Wendy Wunder’s debut novel. Dude, Wendy Wunder has the finesse of a much more experienced writer judging by my emotions and how The Probability of Miracles still lingers in my brain.

I listened to the audiobook of The Probability Of Miracles by Wendy Wunder produced by Penguin Audio while driving and working out and found myself taking a longer route just to listen more. Emma Galvin handles Campbell’s story with grace — infusing emotion at just the right moment. Galvin’s voice is perfect for Cam as there’s an attitude behind it. The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder is 8 hours unabridged. It’s another great audio for newcomers to try out.

  1. This book has been getting great reviews….but sometimes I’m so reluctant to pick up a book I KNOW will have me in tears. Crying is so laboring…haha. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂

  2. I keep hearing about how incredible this book is! And, a friend just sent me a copy, so I will have to get it read soon!! I think I might be coming into a mood soon where I really want that heavily emotional read, and this one sounds like it would be absolutely perfect for that mood!

  3. I totally agree – this book is so good and it is hard to believe that this is Wendy Wunder’s debut. And Emma Galvin is one of my favorite audiobook narrators and is so perfect for Cam. Yes, it really does slam into you, doesn’t it? Glad it connected with you too.

  4. Looks like I need to add this to my to read list. Though maybe not to close to reading The Fault in our Starts. I can only handle so many characters with fatal diseases at one time…

This was the last book I read in 2011 and it was the PERFECT novel to close the year up with. Gosh I adore this story. I know lots of peeps are weary of it b/c it deals with cancer.. and the premonition of death.. BUT, this is what I tell people.. it’s a story about LIVING, not dying. So much goodness can be taken from it. Fab review, as always, April.

  6. Okay, I was all hesitant about reading this book but your review makes me want to read this. I’m always wary of reading stories that could potentially end with me trying to mop up the puddle of my tears :\ but this could have a happy ending, right?

  7. Oh, wow. This sounds really good! And it sounds like 3rd person was the right choice for this story, too. Some days, I really do want my heart stomped upon, just so I can sob like a little baby. Wishlist!

  8. Oh good, I need another good audiobook right about now. Thanks for the rec, April! 🙂

  9. I like how you said you were surprised this was her debut — because I felt the same way! While reading it, I kept thinking “She planned this book out really well!” HAHAHA

  10. I just checked out this book from the library yesterday, but have been debating about whether or not I should put it off as a summer read, since that’s when the book takes place. Thoughts?

  11. “I love when authors take my heart and crush it into tiny little pieces, but then make it swell like a balloon” Nice phrasing! I have been trying to wrap words around that feeling for a while, and this sums it up perfectly. I really want to read this because I am going to be working with kids who have cancer this semester.

  12. This book was even on my radar until around the release date. I so, so happy I paid attention because Holy Crap it was good. I loved everthing about it and I agree with your review 100%!

  13. Oh my gah, as I am on a contemp “thing” – I swear I am going to read this book and soon. But I won’t lie I am scared to death. I don’t like to cry when I read sad books and everyone on the twitters has made like this book will tear you apart. And you even said something similar.

Jacinda from The Reading Housewives (who is everyday awesome) sent me her ARC of this. So I have it. And I need to read it. Because I promised more contemps. But I am scared out of my mind of it. I will conquer the pink beast. But it’ll take me awhile.

Speaking of pink, the cover is really pretty.

  14. I really like the fact that the author put this in third person so you don’t just know the ending. Good job, Wendy Wunder.
