Top Ten Books To Give As Gifts

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and Bookish and was created by Jamie at The Perpetual Page Turner.

Today’s Top is Top 10 Books To Give As Gifts and to who! So, I thought I would get specific with different people from my day to day and from blogging as well!

 1. Lola And The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Lola And The Boy Next Door

If my sister didn’t want TOMS shoes or a purse and I had free reign on what to get her, I would get her Lola And The Boy Next Door because she loved Anna & The French Kiss when I loaned her my copy.

2. The Litigators by John Grisham

The Litigators

For my boyfriend, Tony! Because he loves John Grisham’s books and has not read this one yet.

3. The Name Of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Tony has a family member who loves fantasy novels, thus, I would get her The Name Of  The Wind because it is EXCELLENT.

4. The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by NK Jemisin

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms

I have a friend, Randy, who is awesome and a fan of fantasy novels as well. The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is different from the usual fantasy fare, so I think he would enjoy it!

5. Will Grayson, Will Grayson by David Levithan & John Green

My friend Allison L. deserves to meet Tiny Cooper, because she is awesome and often lets me drag her to book signings. Some of you may know her on twitter as @lettertoafriend. She rocks. Thus a rockin book for a rockin friend.

6. Bet Me by Jennifer Cruise

Bet Me, Jennifer Cruise, Trade paperback, book cover

Bet Me

If I had to gift this book to a friend, I would gift it to both Anna and Jen who are both awesome and who both mentioned at one time or another in passing wanting to try romance. I have a feeling this is right UP their alley as it reads like a YA contemp but with two tasteful sex scenes. Also, SLOW BURN.

7. The Aviary by Kathleen O’Dell

The Aviary, Green, Birds, Girl, Kathleen O'Dell, Book Cover

The Aviay

If Allison at The Allure Of Books hadn’t already purchased The Aviary and I was sending these books  to people for real, I would totally get her The Aviary. This is a book you give to people you care very much about. It’s a book to treasure, I believe.

8. Methland: The Death And Life Of An American Small  Town by Nick Reding

Methland The Death And Life oF An American Small Town, Nick Reding, Book Cover

Methland

Methland is a nonfiction book and is REALLY good, so I would give it to Jamie at the Perpetual Page Turner because she likes eclectic books and I think it’s an interesting read if you are feeling burned out on YA. And also I couldn’t think of any travel memoirs.

9. The Girl Of Fire And Thorns by Rae Carson

The Girl  Of Fire And Thorns is a book that I would give to Carla who I am surprised hasn’t reviewed it at least when I googled it on her blog. Anyways, I would give it to Carla because it’s fantasy and BALLER and a slow burn but there are big surprises.

10. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

Mistborn, Mass Market Paperback, Book Cover, Brandon Sanderson

Mistborn

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson is a book that I think Lisa at Lisa Is Busy Nerding would enjoy. Seriously, I would like for Lisa to meet Vin and Kelsier and Elend and get to know the BAMFness of Allomancy!

Disclaimer: I am not ACTUALLY buying anyone these books for Christmas as I am spending all my money on an expensive gift for the boyfriend.

Comments

  1. I’ve heard awesome things about Lola and the Boy Next Door and Bet Me. I don’t read a lot of contemporaries so I’ve been putting them off. I must try them in the new year!

My Top Ten is here if you’d like a look 🙂

Plus win a copy of Die for Me by Amy Plum!

  2. Wow, looks like you have an eccelectic group of people to give books to. 🙂 And yay, we both have Will Grayson, Will Grayson on our lists! I would love to read Lola and the Boy Next Door myself, but tis the season for giving to others. Happy Holidays!

  3. Great gift choices. I am noting down a few of those. Do come and check mine too!!

Here is my Top Ten post!

  4. First off, I love your disclaimer. I laughed out loud.

I LOVED Lola and the Boy Next Door! I don’t know anyone who didn’t! I think ANNA and LOLA make perfect gifts! If someone WAS to buy books for Christmas…

  5. So glad to see The Girl of Fire and Thorns on your list too! I also really liked Bet Me. I want to try The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. It sounds like something I’d like. Fantastic list!

  6. Well then it looks like I’m going to need Bet Me to launch my foray into romance books. (I do have Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake that I will throw into the reading pile soon, too. I’ve heard time & time again that it’s fabulous! But then again I’ve been saying that for months now.) AND I want to read Girl of Fire and Thorns, too.

  7. i kept reading and thinking, “was THIS the book?” because so so so many of those books sound right up my alley.

but you nailed it with Mistborn.
    magical martial arts?
the hero of prophecy failing and the dark lord rising?
    whatever the hell allomancy is?

    yeah, i’m in. YOU RULE.

  8. Awesome list! I love how you selected some of the books for some of your fave bloggers 🙂

  9. I love how you picked out specific books for people! So fun. And I am thinking I need to grab myself a copy of Bet Me 🙂 I love me some slow burns.

  10. lol, loved the disclaimer. I actually bought Bet Me for a friend for her birthday after I saw you recommend it and I SO wanted to crack it open and read it!

  11. Great list of books! And the choices you made for some fellow bloggers make perfect sense to me!

  12. I love that The Name of the Wind and Bet Me made the list, yay! You make me happy.

And I am definitely reading The Aviary soon so we can rave about it! (Even though you did link my name to some weirdo product sales website up there…)

  13. Guess what is officially added to my wish list? 😉

  14. Ooh. The Bet Me book looks really good! One of the dangers of reading these posts is that I end up wanting to put even more books on my “to read” pile!

  15. My cousin has Methland on her Christmas list actually – I had never heard of it, but sounds really good! I may have to actually grab it for myself too 🙂

Stop by and check out my Teaser and Top Ten Tuesday!!

  16. Lola is an awesome choice, it’s such a great book and has wild appeal. I’ve heard some amazing things about The Girl of Fire & Thorns…might have to give that to myself for Christmas.

  17. I LOVE Will Grayson. That would be a great gift for any YA lover, or anyone who doesn’t know they love YA yet.

  18. I would give Lola to just about everyone for Christmas if I could!

    Great list!

  19. I’ve seen The Aviary on your blog at least three times. And I really want to read it too, so I think I am going to get on that and get myself a copy. I’m moving soon, so maybe they will have it at the library. I think I’ll check there first.

  20. I’d give everyone and their grandmother a copy of LOLA if I could.

    – Asher (from Paranormal Indulgence)

  21. So…I haven’t read any of these books and would love for them ALL to be gifted to ME. But you know…you should probly save your moneys for a Mac first. (I’m just selfish.)

  22. I lubbs you I really really do – because YOU totally get my love for fantasy – I was actually supposed to meet Martha in NYC because she was like oh my gosh I have this book you will love! and my phone battery died and we all went and got drunk and ate pinkberry.
