Celebrate good times, come on!: On CYBILS

So here I am dancing at my desk because I am awesome and have spotify to Kool And The Gang admonishing me celebrate good times. Friends, good times are coming up for me. In fact I have a belated announcement to make.

I’m a Round One Judge (capitalized because capital letters mean business) for the Middle Grade Sci-Fi Fantasy Fiction category of the CYBILS.

CYBILS 2011

HOLLA ATCHA AWARDSSSS

I wish I had a picture of my face when I got the email tapping me for the spot. My jaw literally dropped. Then I was like WHAT! Then I proceeded to scream in my indoor voice because people were sleeping. Then my boyfriend came home and I jumped all over him like a puppy and he’s all HUN CHILL THE HELL OUT. And I’m like BUT I AM A CYBILS JUDGE and continued to scream with my indoor voice.

So what does that mean for Good Books & Good Wine? Well, amigos, I will slant much more heavily towards middle grade science fiction and fantasy in the coming months, obvi. Until like December, after that you can expect reviews of books with adults in them because I suspect I might be a little burnt out.

Also, heavy use of the library. You guys. We have to take library books out for the CYBILS, and haha I go to check my fees and it was 150$ rounded. And to be honest, I was more terrified of being yelled out or scolded. So, I found my long over due books, hit up the ATM to happily pay the fee and went to the library for the first time in over a year. The librarian was totally not a troll at all. She was SO NICE OMG. She was like, oh, you are just missing one audiobook and I was like, yeah here’s 60$ for that and I tossed some dolla bills in her direction. THEN she started to check in the other books and holy crap, my entire fees went from $150 to $80. I did a little dance. Then explained how I do not want to be yelled at and how I plan to use the library very heavily because I’m a CYBILS judge. And the lady was super nice and I found two books from my memory and no more because I had to run back to work.

But turns out, only the librarians back home are old trolls. The ones here are totally awesome.

    • I paid that $80 with a glad heart, I mean if it was a traffic ticket I would have been mad, but since it’s the library I am cool with giving them money for being a bad patron πŸ˜€

  8. Ok, you are ultra-adorable.

  9. Congrats on being a Cybils judge! I’m sure it’s going to be an awesome experience. πŸ˜€
