Top 10 Bookish Sites And Apps

Top 10 Tuesday is hosted by The Broke And The Bookish!

Ya’ll the internet is a vast place, and with this week’s theme of Top 10 Bookish Sites And Apps, I thought I would help you navigate to some awesome sites.

Apps, iphone applications

Apps

1. Goodreads.

Le duh, you can’t have a top 10  bookish sites with goodreads on it. This is the site I credit for my renewed love of books. Plus meeting plenty of bookworms through various groups Wildthings what upppp, who later became bloggers.

2. Better World Books.

So, ordering books online is very satisfying, especially if you don’t have a great indie near you. AND with Better World Books, every time you order a book from them, a portion of the proceeds goes toward a literacy related charity.

3. Librarything.

Librarything is very serious. You pay like 20 bucks and get an awesome lifetime membership. Also, their early reviewer giveaways are 1000x more better than goodreads, because they actually take your reviews and activity into account.

4. Audible.

This app is whipping my ass into shape. I have it on my iphone, and always take it with me to the gym. The cool thing is you can earn badges for listening for a certain amount of time and checking your stats and tweeting about audible. I mean sure, it feels like girl scouts earning badges, but I LOVE IT.

5. Your Next Read

Gone are the days of indecision. Instead this awesome website will help you decide what your next book will be. Also, bonus, you can connect it with goodreads!

6. Project Gutenburg

All of the public domain ebooks in one place with an excellent group of volunteer formatters. I love this site and it’s legally a great way to save money on books.

7. The Kindle App

So, I may be slightly biased, but I love being able to log onto my phone and pick up reading where I left off. Then because my computer and my kindle are wireless, I can go to those and read where I left off on my phone.

8. Netgalley

Pretty much the boss of all egalley sites. I’m currently battling an addiction with this site, it’s pretty steep if you see my review queue on there.

9. Many Books

This site is a lot like Project Gutenberg, it has plenty of public domain books, however I think it’s a bit easier to navigate.

10. Pottermore

Of course, I still don’t exactly get this site, but let’s be real. It’s Harry Motherluvin’ Potter, of course it is going to be off the chain and full of magic and patronus and words and overall WIN.

Comments

  1. Great post, April! Project Gutenburg is one of those sites that I frequent. It’s amazing to see how many books they got over there =)

  2. I haven’t heard of a couple of these. Off to check them out!

  3. Oh good going mentioning Pottermore! The hype was so recent, how did I forget already? LOL

  4. I like the Kindle app too. It’s a great way to keep up with your Kindle books when you don’t have your Kindle with you.

  5. Project Gutenburg is totally awesome. I also recently heard of LibriVox, which is a place to get audio records of thousands of public domain books. I have no idea what the production quality is, but it’s definitely a cool concept.

  6. I wish I could like Project Gutenburg, but it just reminds me of being a student and using it to quote in essays!
Loving your other recommendations though! The ones that don;t cause uni-shaped flashbacks… oh the horror! The Horror!
My First Ever Top 10 Tuesday

  7. Thanks for visiting my blog on Tuesday! I am only just now catching up on comments, but I just had to say that I love that you included Pottermore. I’m excited to see what it’s like. 🙂
