It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday, What Are You Reading? is now hosted by Sheila at One Person’s Journey Through A World of Books.
Ya’ll I feel like such fail with reading lately. It all started when I picked up You Are Here: A Portable History of the Universe by Christopher Potter. It’s relatively short, less than 300 pages, but I was in the middle of a chapter with a lot of numbers, and well you should know when there’s numbers my brain sort of glazes, I begin to think about other things, like donuts. Anyways, while reading this book excruciatingly slowly, I’ve picked up other books to amuse me, but haven’t read as many books last week as I would like to.
Anyways here’s the list for those of you listwhores out there.
Read last week:
Copper Sun by Sharon Draper
The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet by Erin Dionne (well, more like, read last night)
Currently Reading:
You Are Here: A Portable History of the Universe by Christopher Potter
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy – (so far, so good, ‘cept those Russians seem to enjoy getting drunk and tying cops to bears… I approve)
I Plan to Read (from Today to next Monday):
This World We Live In by Susan Beth Pfeffer
Tagged by Maura Purnhagen
Everything Here Is The Best Thing Ever by Justin Taylor
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (re-read)
I Need To Write Reviews For These Books: (holla for Procrastination!!)
Copper Sun by Sharon Drapper
The Total Tragedy of A Girl Named Hamlet by Erin Dionne
The House of Tomorrow by Peter Boganni
Beatle Meets Destiny by Gabrielle Williams
Okay and some other exciting news, I now have my own domain! This means my URL is no longer http://readingisthespiceoflife.blogspot.com but is http://www.goodbooksandgoodwine.com to match the name of my blog. The URL should automatically redirect. How exciting right! Also, I’ve been screwing around with html a lot, and changed the layout/background of my blog. Please be kind, as I’m a beginner and this is a work in progress. Oh and I added a feedburner feed, as well as an addthis at the bottom of each feed. I’ve spent probably about 20 or more hours this past weekend working on the blog and I am so excited about it, even if it does look amateurish, it’s something I did myself (with the thanks of google and how-tos guides online).
Also, I think you should take some time and nominate your 5 picks for the Top 100 YA Books of All Time and then tweet the link to all of your friends, you can just copy-paste this: Good Books & Good Wine: What Are The Top 100 Young Adult Books of All Time? http://ow.ly/1oRKlI (via @booksandwine)
Huge thanks to Good Golly Miss Holly & See Michelle Read & Angieville for posting about the list 😀

I feel the same way about numbers. I'm so glad I'm not a student anymore so I can avoid numbers most of the time!

What did you think of Copper Sun? I've heard that it is a very good book but I haven't read it yet. Wow, War and Peace. I'm impressed. Haven't really tackled the Russian greats yet. I do remember attempting Anna Karenina in high school.

I loved Outlander. I still have several books in the series to read. The other ones seem to drag for me compared to the first. Love Jamie Fraser. 🙂

    Enjoy your books!

    Copper Sun was excellent!

I'm reading War and Peace very slowly, for about 15 minutes per day, when I can remember to read it.

I've tried to start Dragonfly in Amber but never finished it, I'm hoping the Outlander challenge will give me the kick that I need!

I can't wait for your review of War and Peace!

I have yet to read Outlander. I keep picking it up and looking at it and then putting it back down. I'm just not sure about it! Hope you have a great reading week!!

  6. Love your blog layout and title 🙂
Those are some thick books you are reading, enjoy!

  7. Hi April!

I wonder how do you like reading the Outlander series? I've never reading it before but have heard multiple mix reviews on it so I thought I should ask what your personal take on this series. Would you highly recommend it?

  8. Great list! Yes, I'm a list whore. I haven't managed to get to War and Peace though I read Anna Karenina. I do love the Russians. Good to know they like to tie cops to bears!
Your blog looks great, not amateurish at all.

  9. Great books I haven't read War and Peace but I really want to its just a huge undertaking. Also I love your idea of the YA list that is pretty awesome.

  10. Congrats on your domain! I have one for my decorating blog, but not my book blog yet.

I enjoyed The Swan Thieves, but can see why you might not get into it. Kostova can be pretty flowery.

Enjoy your reading week and stop procrastinating! 😉

  11. I'm not really sure what my favorite story was in One Amazing Thing… I kind of let myself get sucked into whatever story was next. I also just finished The Unwritten Rule so my head is filled with that story (which is completely unrelated to One Amazing Thing) sooooooooo.

Guess I just wanted to stop by to say hey. haha.

Ugh. I hate how one book can just ruin it for everything else. Hopefully this week will bring you a lot more fun with your reading and less numbers! Good luck and have a fabulous reading week!

And if you're interested I'll have my review of Cracked Up to Be up later this week. I'm still trying to digest exactly how I felt about it.

Outlander is one of my fave books, and I just found the moving box with the rest of the series…..its gonna be a fun week 😉

  14. Hope you get through your wonderful list of books. I only read one last week. Love Outlander and the rest of the series. Happy reading 🙂

  15. I'm glad to have found your blog. I am not familiar with any of your books this week. Except War and Peace. I edited my post to include a link to the NEA's Big Read if you are interested.

  16. War and Peace….I'll get around to it someday!

  17. I totally feel your numbers pain! There's a reason the only sciences I took in college were of the social variety. Hopefully you'll be able to push past the numbers! Good luck with your reading this week 🙂

  18. Mmm, donuts.
I want to read You Are Here. And Outlander. JG described Jamie as 'sex on legs' and now I am intrigued.

    And the blog looks great.

  19. Sheila (Bookjourney) says

You have some wonderful books on your list here! Looks like this week is going to be good too! 🙂

Oh and, "well you should know when there's numbers my brain sort of glazes, I begin to think about other things, like donuts."

    LOL

Numbers are so not my thing either! It looks like you have a great list of books for this week. Hope you are enjoying them 🙂
